A Bright Idea with A Bright Future

I just wanted to take a moment to tell you about Bright One, an intiative that I've been spearheading over the last few months and that launched last week.

Bright One is a communications agency aimed at charities, non-profits and social enterprises, run by volunteers from the industry who want to broaden their communication’s experience and use their expertise for social good. It aims to deliver high quality communications for charities, non-profit organisations and social enterprises, and in turn help them to reach those they are trying to help. You can find out more about Bright One's aims by going to the website here.

Bright One launched officially on Thursday 25 September with an appearance in PR Week, which you can read by clicking on the photo below.

I hope you agree that this is a great idea - everyone we've spoken to has said so and we know there are plenty of people out there who need our help, which is why an idea has become a working organisation.

You can follow us in Twitter, join our Facebook page, flag useful things to us using Delicious, and find out about the other social entrepreneurs we are working with over at Unltd World.

To get a better idea of what I'm up to over at Bright One, read the introduction post here.

Hi Ben, I've been following your blog for some time so apologies that this is only my first comment!
Bright One sounds like a great organisation, congratulations on starting such a exciting new project!
I'm a PR student in Leeds at the moment, and am hoping to get some charity based experience at some point in the coming year. Is the agency based in London?

Hi Natalie,

Always good to hear from a reader!

Bright One uses an online collaboration platform called Huddle (www.huddle.net) so location isn't too much of an issue.

I see you're doing work experience at Wolfstar - hows that going?

It would be great to have you on board with Bright One - part of the organisation is to offer PR students real-world client work and mentoring from existing PR professionals.

If you could send me an email with a bit more background on yourself then we can hopefully take things from there (email is on the Bright One site)

Thanks!

Ah so there's no official office- that's useful for people who want to get involved that don't live close by!

My work experience at Wolfstar has gone very well, I started in the Summer and now work as an account executive, part time to fit around my studies!

I'm in the office today but will send you through an email tonight with a bit more background information!

Thanks Ben!

Ben, congratulations! This looks a tad different than the proposal that we chatted about and I'm thrilled for you and for the organizations that you'll be able to help through Bright One.
This is truly unique.

If there's anything I can do to help, let me know!

Hi Kelli,

Many thanks! It is a bit different from when we last spoke about it. That has come about from speaking to a lot of different people and taking all the best parts of their ideas. It certainly seems to have captured the imagination of people over here so hopefully it will help a lot of people.

When we're ready to take on the US I'll let you know ;)

Cheers,
Ben
